I had an amazing opportunity to create animations for the documentary “The Bread We Share” for Ukrainian public broadcast “Suspilne”.

The documentary shares the stories of 4 different ethnic groups that live in Ukraine - Crimean Tatars, North Azov Greeks, Bulgarians and Jews. About their diverse histories, culture, traditions, memories and one specific bread that belongs to each group.

Each episode showcases one ethnic group, one family, their life story and one bread’s recipe.

Client: Suspilne broadcast

Created in cooperation and help with European Union

Author of the idea and journalist: Zoia Vasylenko

Director and Screenwriter: Oleksandra Fogg

Producers: Anhelina Litvin, Olena Krasavtseva, Sergii Nedzelskyi

Stop-Motion Animator: Mariia Ozirna

Composer: Jaggi Fogg

My main task was to create an animations that depicting certain stories been told by people on interviews - the process of baking the bread, traditions around that or another bread, the memories from a childhood, or the tragic history of deportations when bread was the only thing that helped the to survive (like in the episode about Crimean Tatars)

Along with animations, I created animated lettering for the main titles and design of promo posters
